Workshop at IEEE AIxVR 2027
SENSE-XR 2027
Sensing and Generative AI for
Human-Aware Extended Reality
Workshop date and time to be announced.
in the loop
About the workshop
SENSE-XR examines how physiological and behavioural sensing can inform adaptive and generative extended reality. Signals such as EEG, heart rate, gaze, speech, and body motion provide information about users' affect, attention, workload, and intent. These estimates can guide changes to virtual environments, characters, dialogue, and interaction.
The workshop addresses sensing, user-state modelling, adaptation, generation, and evaluation. Contributions to individual components and complete closed-loop systems are welcome.
Topics of interest
- Physiological and behavioural sensing, multimodal fusion, and user-state modelling.
- Adaptive and neuroadaptive XR; generative environments, narratives, virtual agents, and media.
- Closed-loop systems, latency, stability, personalization, datasets, and benchmarks.
- Evaluation of presence, user experience, and adaptation quality; privacy, safety, and user agency.
- Applications in education, training, healthcare, rehabilitation, games, storytelling, and collaboration.
Call for papers
We invite full research and system papers of up to six pages, and short, work-in-progress, position, demo, or design papers of up to four pages, excluding references.
Submissions must use the IEEE double-column template and be anonymized for review. Both submissions and reviews will be managed through the AIxVR EasyChair system. The SENSE-XR track link will be added when available.
Papers must report original work and must not be under review elsewhere. Authors must follow the AIxVR submission instructions and linked IEEE formatting, publication, and research ethics policies, using the workshop's page limits and deadlines.
- Plagiarism is not permitted. Authors must hold the necessary rights to submitted material.
- AI-generated content must be disclosed, including text, images, figures, and code. AI use solely for editing or grammar correction is excluded from this requirement.
- Human-subject research must report ethics approval and participant consent, or explain why either was not obtained, as specified in the conference instructions.
Review process and publication
Every accepted paper, including invited and organizer-authored papers, must receive at least two substantive reviews from independent experts. Reviews will assess relevance, originality, technical quality, clarity, and suitability for workshop discussion. A third review will be sought when scores diverge.
Submissions are anonymous to reviewers. Non-conflicted chairs and reviewers will handle papers involving organizers, their institutions, recent collaborators, students, or close associates. Conflicted organizers will not access reviews or participate in decisions on those papers.
Workshop proceedings will be included in the conference proceedings, which will be submitted for publication by IEEE Computer Society Press and submitted for inclusion in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library.
Program
The planned program includes research presentations, demonstrations, an invited talk, and discussion of evaluation methods and open research questions. The date, duration, speakers, and final program will be announced after the conference schedule is confirmed.
